Live Throw: real-time matches against real people

Live Throw puts you and your friends on the same board at the same time, over a live connection. Here is how a match runs and what you earn from it.

How a match works

  1. Open a lobby. Start a Live Throw room from the game menu. The room gets a short join code.
  2. Invite. Share the code or the room link, or invite someone directly from your friends list. Anyone with the code can join before the match starts.
  3. Throw. Players take their throws in the live match and the board updates for everyone in real time.
  4. Settle. When the match completes, everyone is ranked by score and XP is awarded to the top three.

What you earn

Ties are handled with standard competition ranking: players on the same score all take the higher position and the next position is skipped. So two players tied for first each receive the full 100 XP, and the next player down receives 25 rather than 50.

That XP feeds the same pool as everything else you earn, so it counts toward your level and your ranked tier. See ranks and progression for how that ladder works.

Tactics that differ from single player

  • You are playing the field, not the board. Your score only has to beat the other players in the room. Against cautious opponents, consistent mid-ring landings win; against aggressive ones you have to chase centres.
  • The combo still runs. Consecutive scoring throws build the same multiplier as anywhere else, so a clean run is as decisive here as in Classic.
  • Do not tilt after a miss. Live matches are short and visible, and the most common way to lose one is to over-correct after a single bad throw.

Connection and offline play

Live Throw needs a live connection, since the match state is shared between players in real time. The rest of ThrowVerse does not — single-player modes work offline and sync your results once you are back online. If a Live Throw match drops out, it settles on the scores recorded at the time.
